How a Palletizer Works
- Loading Products: A conveyor belt transports products from a production or packing line to the palletizing station.
- Product Recognition: Sensors or vision systems help palletizers handle and stack products correctly by recognizing size, shape, and orientation.
- Organizing and Classifying: To generate sturdy and efficient layers, the machine groups items according to a pre-programmed pattern.
- Item Picking and Placing: A mechanical or robotic arm with end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) grasps and accurately arranges the items on the pallet in the desired pattern.
- Layer Stacking: The arm stacks objects layer by layer until the pallet is full. Depending on the product, cardboard or plastic layers may offer stability.
- Palletizing: After layering, the robot sets it on the pallet and continues. After finishing, automated systems or workers transfer the pallet for wrapping or truck loading.
